Micro Adventures: A quick mental reset

Sometimes we all need a quick outdoor excursion to reset our senses. Even if you only have a day or a weekend, a micro adventure is just the ticket to inspire through being in nature. We often take a weekend trip to explore another state or even our favorite spot in our state. We are fortunate to live in North Carolina because the coast is 4 hours away and the mountains are only 2.5 hours away. We have the best of both worlds. Leaving on a Friday night will maximize your weekend if you don't mind setting up camp at night. This gives us all day Saturday and most of the day Sunday to explore. Many times we visit Boone and spend our Saturday hiking on the many trails or taking in the sunrise on the parkway.

The best pointer we can give you for a micro adventure is if you are going to reach your destination make sure you plan. Book your campsite early if there is a fee associated. This will guarantee your spot. Pay fees ahead of time since the office may be closed by the time you arrive.

If you are camping in free dispersed areas there may not be a guaranteed campsite. We quickly become familiar with the free dispersed areas making note of which site will accommodate our vehicle and roof top tent. We will make a note on our map on which site will work. Our map bag stays with us at all times so we can keep track of sites.

Whether it be hiking, backpacking, climbing, offroading or camping, a weekend or a day trip may just be the thing you need to reset and clear your mind for the upcoming week.

Happy Traveling, and be inspired by the journey!
